![]() Hugh is the only actor to have been hired for two tours of duty as the Phantom on Broadway. He was selected to play the Phantom in 1999 but after only six months, Producer Cameron Mackintosh asked Hugh to star in his new production of Martin Guerre. Hugh then came back to Phantom in 2003 and is the current Phantom as of this writing. Hugh made his Broadway debut as Marius in Les Miserables and created the roles of Buddy in Side Show and Julian in The Red Shoes. He made his West End Debut in the original Lond company of Harold Prince's, Showboat as Ravenal, a role he also played on Broadway. At Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall, he performed with the Radio City Rockettes in Jerry Herman's Mack and Mabel and was chosen to sing the role of Anthony Hope in Sweeney Todd at The Stephen Sondheim Gala. Hugh received an Ovation nomination for his portrayal of Franklin Shepard in Los Angeles for Reprise! As a concert artist, Hugh has performed with symphony orchestras across the US and abroad and can be heard on numerous recordings. |
