Mark came into Broadway after opening the first national touring company of Phantom in Chicago at the Auditorium in 1991. He played the role on Broadway for close to two years before Harold Prince tabbed him to play the role of Gaylord Ravenal in the Toronto and Broadway casts of Showboat from 1994-1996. Subsequently, he was tabbed to play the role of Padre in the Broadway production of The Man of La Mancha for which he received wide critical acclaim. Prior to Phantom, Mark played the roles of Baron von Gaigorn in Grand Hotel and Vittorio Vidal in Sweet Charity. His other appearances have included John Jasper in The Mystery of Edwin Drood opposite Jean Stapleton and George Rose the title role in Lehman Engel's 1973 national tour of The Student Prince, and a European tour of the Philip Glass Opera, Einstein on the Beach. He has also been seen as Sid Sorokin in New York City Opera's production of The Pajama Game (New York City Opera revival), as Barry O'Day in Eileen at Town Hall and in Einstein on the Beach at the Metropolitan Opera House. A busy concert performer, Mark has performed with many symphonies including the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Portland Symphony Orchestra, and the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra.
